Energy Efficient Air Compressor Introduction
Efficiency is mainly decided by two parts of the air compressor.
The first part is the host. It is easy for us to understand more
air volume at cost of same power consumption means higher
efficiency. The second part is electric motor. Permanent magnet
motor and high efficient motor are common on current air
compressors. Compared with ordinary electric motors, permanent
magnet motors present higher efficient, higher power factor, and
higher detent torch. Permanent magnet (synchronous) electric motors
show the same detent torch as other synchronous electric motors.
Without rotor windings, these permanent magnet motors show lower
power consumption, because rotor excitation is unnecessary.
However, permanent magnet motors need frequency converters which
consume certain power. The test proves efficiency of low power
permanent magnet motors remains higher than that of ordinary motors
after adding frequency converters. We can use high efficient motors
at high power stage to improve operation efficiency. On the other
hand, characteristics of permanent magnet motors decide that they
can maintain the same efficiency even at lower rotation speed.
However, efficiency of ordinary motors declines with decreasing of
rotation speed, showing a parabola curve
